Barrel Kit FX Wildcat/Maverick 700 mm Specifications: Calibre, Liner, and European Availability

The kit supports .22 (5.5mm), .25 (6.35mm), and .30 (7.62mm) calibres . The 700mm Superior STX liner delivers increased velocity with heavy pellets and slugs. The kit includes a matching shroud and caliber-specific pellet probe, ensuring seamless integration . European retailers stock this kit, with Dutch and German shops listing availability . Therefore, shooters in Sweden, Finland, and Estonia can order this kit with confidence.

Superior STX Liner and Direct Power Gains

The defining feature of this kit is its FX Superior STX liner. The precision pressing process creates a smooth interior surface that reduces friction and improves consistency . Moreover, one owner reported gaining 15 to 20 fps simply by switching from a 600mm to a 700mm barrel on their Maverick, turning their .22 into a “75 ft/lb monster” . The longer barrel provides additional projectile dwell time for higher velocity with heavy ammunition. The included pellet probe matches the calibre, so you avoid sourcing separate components. Consequently, the kit delivers measurable performance gains without requiring a gunsmith.

Barrel Kit FX Wildcat/Maverick Problems Owners Report

Owners report several considerations worth knowing. Barrel and shroud compatibility varies across FX platforms, with one forum member noting Maverick shrouds do not fit Impact rifles, though the reverse works with modification . Moreover, the 700mm barrel length reduces agility, with one owner observing it makes the rifle “less agile” compared to compact configurations . Tuning is required after installation, as you must adjust regulator pressure and hammer spring to match the new calibre and barrel length . Some owners find the longer barrel shifts the rifle’s balance, particularly on lightweight setups. Therefore, owner feedback suggests accepting the length trade-off as part of the power gain.

Accuracy, Ammunition Choice, and Range Performance

Ammunition choice significantly impacts the 700mm kit’s accuracy. One owner reported achieving MOA or slightly larger groups at 100 yards using 20-grain ZAN slugs in .177 calibre with the Superior Heavy Liner . Moreover, the STX liner performs well with both pellets and slugs, giving you flexibility across disciplines. The 700mm length provides the velocity needed for stable flight with heavier projectiles. Consequently, test multiple pellet weights and slug designs to find what your individual barrel prefers. The kit excels at medium-to-long-range hunting and target shooting where the extra velocity translates to flatter trajectories and improved wind resistance.

FINAL VERDICT

The Barrel Kit FX Wildcat/Maverick 700 mm represents a worthwhile upgrade for owners seeking more power and calibre flexibility. It offers a Superior STX liner, matching pellet probe, and measurable velocity gains at an accessible price point. However, shroud compatibility variations, reduced agility, and mandatory tuning mean it suits shooters willing to adjust their setup rather than expecting plug-and-play simplicity. Purchase from a reputable European retailer with warranty support and knowledge of local regulations. Consider adding a carbon fibre bottle to offset the weight, and a pellet sampler pack to find the best ammunition for your new barrel. Therefore, verify your Wildcat or Maverick model and desired calibre before ordering, as regulations vary across EU member states including Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. Shop at Airgun Armoury.
