Smooth Twist X Barrel System and AMP Regulator

The defining feature of the Dream-Tact Compact is its Smooth Twist X barrel system. This innovative design uses a removable liner with rifling pressed in from the outside, creating a very smooth inner surface for minimal friction . Moreover, the interchangeable liner system allows calibre changes and twist rate adjustments for different projectiles . The AMP regulator adjusts externally without needing to drain the rifle, ensuring consistent velocities shot after shot . The FX match grade trigger comes set at 15 ounces from the factory and adjusts for both stages . The smooth sidelever cycles almost effortlessly, and the reversible design suits left-handed shooters. Consequently, the rifle adapts to different ammunition and shooting scenarios without major gunsmithing.

Known FX Dream-Tact Compact Problems Owners Report

Owners report several significant issues worth knowing. Bottle clearance is the most common complaint, with one owner discovering their 300cc Best Fittings bottle would not quite clear a Huggett Snipe moderator, noting the bottle rests slightly on the moderator . Moreover, the factory aluminium cylinder receives heavy criticism, with one owner stating “the original cylinder is ridiculously small” and upgrading to a 370cc carbon bottle immediately . Bottle quality issues have appeared with aftermarket options, with one owner noting Best Fittings bottles are “not the best quality” and made by Alsafe in China . The compact platform limits bottle size, as anything larger than 370cc will not fit past the shroud . Therefore, owner feedback suggests choosing your moderator carefully and budgeting for a quality carbon bottle upgrade.

Accuracy, Pellet Choice, and Range Performance

Pellet choice significantly impacts the Dream-Tact Compact’s accuracy. The STX barrel performs well with JSB Exact pellets, and the Superlight barrel with carbon fibre sleeve reduces weight while maintaining rigidity . Owners report excellent results, with one noting the rifle is “compact, super accurate, powerful, great shot count with larger bottle” . The regulated system delivers consistent velocities when working correctly. Consequently, test multiple pellet weights to find what your individual barrel prefers. The Dream-Tact Compact excels at small game hunting and target shooting within 50 yards. One owner reported upgrading to a 370cc carbon bottle and achieving “at least 40 shots depending on how your gun is tuned” . For backpack hunting, the compact dimensions make this one of the most portable PCP options available.

FINAL VERDICT

The FX Dream-Tact Compact with Carbon Fiber Bottle represents exceptional value in a modular, portable PCP platform. It offers a 300cc carbon bottle, Smooth Twist X barrel, and AR15 stock compatibility at an accessible price point. However, bottle clearance issues with moderators, factory cylinder limitations, and aftermarket bottle quality variability mean it suits shooters willing to customise and upgrade rather than expecting turnkey perfection. Purchase from a reputable European retailer with warranty support and knowledge of local regulations. Consider adding a quality carbon fibre bottle in the 300-370cc range for improved shot count, and a slim moderator to avoid clearance issues . Therefore, verify your country’s energy limits before ordering, as regulations vary across EU member states including Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. Shop at Airgun Armoury.
