PCP T-REX 5.5 mm Snowpeak Rifle: Compact Bullpup Performance with a Few Quirks

The PCP T-REX 5.5 mm Snowpeak Rifle is a regulated bullpup air rifle that delivers full-size performance in a compact package. If you have searched for a Snowpeak T-Rex review, this rifle offers a 230cc air cylinder, side lever action, and a 10-shot magazine in 5.5mm (.22) calibre . Consequently, it suits hunters and target shooters across Sweden, Finland, Estonia, and other EU countries where 16 J air rifles are permitted. Moreover, the bullpup layout keeps the rifle at just 787mm while maintaining a 530mm barrel . Because it features an integrated regulator, it delivers consistent shot-to-shot performance . Therefore, whether you are checking Snowpeak T-Rex price or comparing the T-Rex Bullpup against the standard carbine, this platform deserves serious consideration. The Snowpeak T-Rex bullpup regulator is adjustable for tuning, and the T-Rex PCP Air rifle remains one of the most popular budget bullpups in Europe.

Snowpeak T-Rex Specifications: Calibre, Power, and European Availability

The T-Rex comes in 4.5mm (.177) and 5.5mm (.22) calibres. The 5.5mm version delivers velocities around 263 m/s with muzzle energy up to 41 J depending on configuration . Weight sits at 2.3 kg in bullpup form, making it one of the lightest PCP rifles available . The 150cc or 230cc air cylinder fills to a maximum of 250 bar . Magazine capacity is 12 shots in .177 and 10 shots in .22 . Shot count reaches approximately 45 shots per fill in .177 . The barrel comes shrouded with an integrated moderator, and Weaver/Picatinny rails accept optics and bipods . Therefore, shooters in Sweden, Finland, and Estonia should verify local energy limits before ordering.

Regulated Performance and Ambidextrous Design

The defining feature of the T-Rex is its integrated pressure regulator. This system ensures constant muzzle velocity from full fill until the regulator’s set pressure is reached . Moreover, the side lever can be mounted on either the left or right side for ambidextrous use . The two-stage trigger adjusts from 900 to 2300 grams . The synthetic stock features a vertically adjustable cheek pad and rubber recoil pad . Consequently, the rifle adapts to different shooters without modification. The bullpup configuration provides excellent balance and manoeuvrability in tight spaces.

Known Snowpeak T-Rex Problems Owners Report

Owners report several consistent issues worth knowing. The stock shroud and moderator receive heavy criticism, with one experienced owner describing the “Toblerone” shaped moderator as “plastic GARBAGE” that fails even at 16 J . Moreover, regulator issues have appeared, with one owner reporting power dropping at 250 bar fill until reaching 200 bar where performance suddenly increases . The trigger sear corners are rounded off from the factory, preventing adjustment to a crisp match-grade break . Spares availability is a serious concern, with one owner struggling to find replacement springs . Therefore, owner feedback suggests replacing the stock moderator and inspecting regulator function upon receipt.

Accuracy, Pellet Choice, and Range Performance

Pellet choice significantly impacts the T-Rex’s accuracy. Owners report excellent results with JSB Hades RS and pellets up to 1.0g in 5.5mm calibre, achieving “great hits at 25m” . Moreover, one owner reported the T-Rex “will easily rip the center out of an intl 10m target at 30 meters time n time again” . The regulated system delivers consistent velocities when working correctly. Accuracy remains excellent at typical hunting ranges. Consequently, test multiple pellet weights to find what your individual barrel prefers. One owner reported achieving hole-in-hole accuracy at 30 metres after tuning . The T-Rex excels at pest control and target shooting out to 50 metres.

FINAL VERDICT

The PCP T-REX 5.5 mm Snowpeak Rifle represents exceptional value as an entry-level regulated bullpup. It offers a 230cc cylinder, ambidextrous side lever, and compact 787mm overall length at an accessible price point . However, the ineffective stock moderator, regulator quirks, and trigger limitations mean it suits shooters willing to tinker and upgrade rather than expecting turnkey perfection. Purchase from a reputable European retailer with warranty support and knowledge of local regulations. Consider adding an aftermarket moderator with a 1/2 UNF adapter, and a Huma-Air regulator for improved consistency . Therefore, verify your country’s energy limits before ordering, as regulations vary across EU member states including Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. Shop at Airgun Armoury.
