Independent Elevation and Windage Adjustment System

The defining feature of the Skout Rear Rest is its micrometric adjustment system. The intuitive elevation knob grants meticulous vertical control, while the side-to-side knob lets you center the rifle for flawless target centering and windage compensation . Moreover, the magnetic knobs detach and swap sides in seconds, making the rest fully ambidextrous . One forum member noted the Skout rest “bolts on” with “no shifting,” praising its build quality as “incredible well built and worth every penny” . Consequently, the rest delivers the repeatable precision benchrest shooters demand.

Known Skout Adjustable Rear Rest Problems Owners Report

Owners report several considerations worth knowing. Cost is the most consistent complaint, with one forum member stating “I will not pay the price for such an item, and so I must be without” despite acknowledging the quality . Moreover, the rest is designed specifically for Skout PCPs, so universal adaptors are needed for other rifles, which limits its versatility . Forum members have also noted the base could benefit from heavier material for reduced movement . The windage adjustment thread was described as not coarse enough for quick changes, though the large round knob helps . Therefore, owner feedback suggests the rest suits dedicated Skout owners rather than shooters wanting a universal fit.

Accuracy, Setup, and Range Performance

The rear rest does not directly affect accuracy through ammunition choice, as it is a stability accessory. However, the rigid mounting and micrometric adjustments eliminate the variables that plague bag-based setups. The built-in bubble level ensures perfect alignment, while the four feet conquer uneven surfaces . Moreover, the Quick Disconnect Arca Rail integrates with your front tripod for a complete stability system. One reviewer described the Skout rear rest as an essential upgrade for “maximizing the stability and accuracy of their competitive shooting from the bench” . Consequently, the rest supports consistent downrange performance by removing mechanical movement.

FINAL VERDICT

The Skout Airguns Adjustable Rear Rest represents a worthwhile investment for Epoch owners serious about benchrest precision. It offers independent elevation and windage, Arca quick disconnect, and ambidextrous magnetic knobs in a rigid aluminium package . However, premium pricing and Skout-specific mounting mean it suits dedicated Skout shooters rather than those seeking a universal rear rest. Purchase from a reputable European retailer with warranty support and knowledge of local regulations. Consider adding a Skout Arca-Swiss tripod for a complete front-and-rear stability system. Therefore, verify your Skout model and mounting compatibility before ordering, as regulations vary across EU member states including Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. Shop at Airgun Armoury.
